Jeremy Vine viewers outraged as presenters 'giggle' through devastating report: 'Trash!'

Jeremy Vine viewers have accused the show of airing “total trash” after watching presenters “giggle” through a serious segment this week. Storm Huntley, a presenter who handles her own segment on the show, welcomed two guests to her panel – Ayesha Hazarika and former sports broadcaster Mike Parry – during the January 9 broadcast.

As usual, the trio discussed current events during the segment, which this week included the deaths of sporting greats Franz Beckenbauer and JPR Williams, who passed within one day of one another on Sunday, January 7 and Monday, January 8.

Viewers have taken issue with the way the panellists approached the sombre subject matter, accusing them of “giggling” through their discussion.

One even went as far as to call the show “trash” in an online tirade that blasted the chat format.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, one user said they watched the show as it aired earlier this week and dubbed its programming “total trash TV zero content”, adding: “Giggles all the way through serious subjects.”

The viewer dubbed the “treatment of the passing of Mr Beckenbauer and Mr Williams a “disrespectful disgrace”.

But some Jeremy Vine fans had the opposite complaint, saying the show was a little too sombre on Tuesday.

One social media user said the show was “full of doom and gloom” earlier this week.

They wrote on X: “#JeremyVine and #StormHuntley full of doom and gloom today. Imagine being so miserable all the time, especially that Jim Dale. Cheer up.”

Another thanked Ms Hazarika for “speaking so eloquently” when appearing alongside Mr Parry this week.

The latest accusations are not the first the Jeremy Vine show has received for alleged “disrespect” in recent years.

In 2023, presenter Dawn Newsom courted controversy after she incorrectly pronounced a guest’s name and commented on her accent.

Ms Newsom was called out for failing to correctly pronounce the name of frequent guest Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu after clumsily introducing her on air, earning her immediate condemnation from Dr Shola, who said the attempt was “terrible, especially for a presenter”.

Viewers were similarly shocked, with one saying the presenter was “beyond rude” and another dubbing her “disrespectful” and “unprofessional”.
