Jannik Sinner was back in the public eye on Sunday after announcing he would miss the U.S. Open.

The world No. 1, who has been dealing with a knee injury, attended the Italian Grand Prix in Monza and gave brief insight into his rehab and recovery.

Sinner quickly answered a question about his health from La Repubblica, saying “My knee? Everything is fine” without going into further detail.

Sinner, who took home the Wimbledon crown in July, has not played a competitive tennis match since.

The 25-year-old developed the knee injury after the grass court tournament — one that he had not yet had this year or in his career.

The five-time Grand Slam winner pulled out of the Cincinnati tune-up tournament and later announced his absence from the U.S. Open.

Sinner was not at the race alone, however.

He enjoyed the race with fellow Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini, who exited the year’s final Grand Slam in the second round after suffering a four-set defeat to Argentina’s Mariano Navone.

The two were seen posing for a photo with Korean-born DJ, producer and singer Peggy Gou at the event.

Sinner and Berrettini witnessed another momentous moment for Italy.

They watched Kimi Antonelli become the first home winner at the event since 1966.

Antonelli ended what was a 60-year drought after coming back from 19th on the starting grid.

The 20-year-old has also provided the same support to Sinner, specifically on his run to a second consecutive win at the Nitto ATP Finals.

After the race, Sinner made sure to reach out to Antonelli.

“Congratulazioni Kimi!” he wrote on X.

Prior to the race, Sinner was asked by a Sky Sports reporter if he had spoken to Antonelli and if he was in “good form.”

“I think he has a good chance to go very far,” he said. “He has the engine. He has the car. So, I wish him all the best.”
