Expert chef Jamie Oliver has revealed the perfect way to cook salmon so it will be ‘succulent and beautiful’ in just 15 minutes by using one common kitchen item.
The Channel 4 celebrity cook has revealed his tried and tested method to make salmon without even needing to wash anything up afterwards. For the recipe, you just need salmon fillets, a chorizo sausage, a sauce of your choice, and one kitchen item: a roll of tin foil. For extra flavour, you can also season it with some herbs too.
The star, taking to YouTube, said: “I wanna show you a preparation for fish. I’ve got two very typical salmon fillets there, you wanna into the skin score about a centimetre right, and you can do that twice. We can put things into these little cuts and we can add flavour. Also it’ll help it cook quicker so win-win-win.
“First, I’m gonna season it with herbs: parsley, mint, basil, gorgeous. So as that fish cooks the flavour from those herbs is gonna go straight into that fish.”
Then Jamie took his chorizo sausage and cut it into thin slices, then grabbed the tin foil.
The foil is how it’s all going to cook. Take a metre of tin foil, fold it in half, then pour your chosen sauce into the tin foil.
Next, you can add any veg you want, then add slices of chorizo to the sauce before laying the salmon fillets on top and then ‘kiss it’ with a little olive oil.
Then, fold the tinfoil into an ‘envelope’, tight enough that none of the sauce can escape.
The tin foil envelope is key to this dish. As Jamie explains: “As it cooks the sauce boils, it steams, it hits the top of the bag, then it rains down beautiful moisture on the fish.
“It gives you the most amazing flavour and succulence.”
Then, take a tray and place the envelope into the tray, and put it into the oven at 220C for about 15 minutes.
Once he took it back out of the oven, he gave it a taste test before adding: “Wow. It’s just the most fantastic way to cook fish.”
