The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s son, James, Earl of Wessex, did not join the rest of the Royal Family at Trooping the Colour for the third time. His last appearance at the event came in 2022 when Queen Elizabeth II marked her historic Platinum Jubilee.
With both James and his elder sister, Lady Louise Windsor, absent from the event, their mother, the Duchess of Edinburgh rode to the parade ground in an open carriage along with Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence. Meanwhile, his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, travelled to Horse Guards Parade on horseback as the Colonel of the Scots Guards.
James last appeared on the balcony for his uncle, King Charles’s, coronation on May 6, 2023.
The young royal was last seen with the Royal Family at Easter when they arrived for the traditional Easter Sunday Matins service at St George’s Chapel.
At the time, royal fans were left stunned at how tall the young royal was as he towered over his dad, Prince Edward.
Taking to X at the time, one fan commented: “James is really so grown up!”
Another added: “James is so tall!”, while another agreed, saying: “James, Earl of Wessex is getting taller, even taller than his father…”
