An actor who previously appeared in the James Bond series believes he “could get away with” another starring role in the franchise.
The veteran actor was a staple of the franchsie for years and it seems fans would be open to having him back in the role. Whether he returns to the role is yet to be seen, but fans seem open to the actor returning.
Some fans have suggested his involvement in the franchise led to some “top tier” moments for the legendary spy.
No actor has been cast in the lead role yet, and the series itself has seen some major changes, with long-serving producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson stepping down and handing full creative control to Amazon Studios.
Fans were even asked by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who they would like to see in the role. Some turned to an actor who has already portrayed the Ian Fleming character, and say it could be a bold move for the franchise.
Though it is unlikely, Pierce Brosnan said he could “get away” with playing Bond in another film. Fans were thrilled to hear Brosnan was open to the role once more, though it may be an unlikely choice.
There is yet to be a confirmed replacement to Daniel Craig, who stepped out of the role in 2021 after No Time to Die. Brosnan has since said he would like the challenge of playing Bond once more.
He said: “Let’s see where the wind takes us. Let’s see what happens. They know where to find me.”
Brosnan played 007 from the mid-90s to the early 2000s, in the films GoldenEye, Die Another Day, The World Is Never Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Though Brosnan is open to a return, he says “fresh blood” for the series would be a much better option. He added: “I think it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie, really. I think so. It’s a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it’s best left to another man, really. Fresh blood.”
Despite this, fans have said they would be open to Brosnan returning to the 007 role.
One fan took to Reddit and wrote: “One of the best, if not the best Bond, that got screwed over by dumb over the top plot lines(even for Bond) and awful writing.”
Another added: “I think Brosnan as a proper, retired old man Bond who can no longer parkour his way out of problems with a Russian hit squad coming after him would work, legit.”
A third suggested a similar story, with the old Bond storyline proposed by one user who says the reunion of Brosnan and Timothy Dalton as “old Bonds” could be “gold”.
They wrote: “Hear me out, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton play retired 007’s called back into service to assist new 007 (insert young actor here) defeat whoever the new threat is that has crippled MI6. One scene must include both older Bonds looking at each other and exclaiming ‘For England James’ before engaging the enemy one last time. Gold right there I tell you.”
