Jack Draper has reportedly added Andy Murray’s former coach, Jamie Delgado, to his team ahead of the new season. The British men’s No. 1 is out for the rest of 2025 after suffering an arm injury and will be aiming to be fit for January’s Australian Open.
The 23-year-old revealed last month that he had battled through agony at Wimbledon before going a whole month unable to serve. Draper managed just one singles victory at the US Open in August before withdrawing ahead of the second round due to “bone bruising” in his left humerus.
The world No. 8 won’t need surgery but has called time on his campaign to allow the injury proper healing time. And Draper appears to have made a decision over his coaching team ahead of 2026.
The Times report that Delgado will coach him next year. They add that James Trotman will remain his coach but will step back with fewer weeks on the road.
Delgado coached Murray from 2016 to 2021 – guiding the legendary Brit to the Wimbledon title in 2016 alongside Ivan Lendl. The three-time Grand Slam winner also ascended to world No.1 that year – beating Novak Djokovic at the season-ending ATP Tour finals to clinch top spot.
The British coach has recently split with Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov after three years together but looks set for a swift return to tennis coaching ahead of next year.
Draper has already enlisted the help of familiar faces from Murray’s team this year. In a bid to boost his physical fitness, the Brit has brought on board Matt Little as a fitness coach and Shane Annun as a physiotherapist, both of whom were key figures in Murray’s camp throughout his career.
Following his first ATP Tour final appearance on clay in Madrid during April, Draper soared to a career-best world No. 4 ranking in June. He became just the second left-handed player this century to crack the top five after Rafael Nadal, but the arm problem led to disappointing early departures from Roland Garros and Wimbledon this summer.
