Cameron Carr has yet to play in a regular-season game for the Lakers and is already making a name for himself.
Isaiah Thomas, a former Lakers guard, raved about Carr’s NBA summer league performance.
“We’ve been giving a lot of praise to the top four or five picks this week, but Cam Carr has been someone I’ve seen since the [NBA draft combine],” Thomas said. “He probably had the best showing at the combine, and as you see him now, in the summer league, he’s a hooper’s hooper.”
Carr played in four games during the NBA summer league and averaged 18 points, 2.3 rebounds and one assist.
During the Lakers’ summer league opener against the Heat on July 5, Carr had an incredible debut, scoring 26 points and making four 3-pointers.
“I think he’s gonna have a real big impact on the Lakers just cause he can space the floor, he can catch and shoot, and he can put the ball on the ground and make a play for others,” Thomas said. “That’s always good when you’re a young guard coming into this league.”
“So, he’s impressed me the most out of you know, not the top guys, but still somebody in there where everybody respects this guy and his game.”
Before Carr was drafted by the Lakers with the 24th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, he played college basketball for three years at Tennessee and Baylor.
In his lone season at Baylor, Carr led the team in scoring, averaging 18.9 points per game.
