Iran ‘could have built a nuclear bomb within a week’ and targeted US | World | News

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) expert has sounded the alarm, suggesting Iran could be on the brink of targeting major US cities within two to three years. In an exclusive interview with the Express, William R. Forstchen painted a grim picture of the potential threat, highlighting that before President Donald Trump’s decisive actions, Iran was poised to strike urban centres like New York, Washington, D. C., or Chicago.

“I mean, the assessment is they could have built a bomb within the next week,” Forstchen disclosed. “One bomb in Tel Aviv would kill hundreds of thousands.

“Well, in two to three years, that could be us. That could be New York City or Washington. Or Chicago,” he continued, stressing the urgency of the situation. This stark warning came before last Saturday’s B-2 bombing ordered by Trump, following the failure of Israel and Iran to negotiate a peaceful resolution.

The airstrikes, which successfully eliminated three key nuclear facilities across Iran, provoked a furious reaction from Tehran. The Iranian government vowed vengeance for the obliteration of their sites.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, the head honcho of Iran’s military forces, declared that America had flung open the doors to retribution, with Iran ready to strike at US interests in response to Trump’s bombardment of the Iranian nuclear installations.

“Criminal America has opened the door for the fighters of Islam in the armed forces for any action against its interests and army,” the top commander Mousavi issued a stern warning. He further asserted: “And we will never retreat.”

The U.S. forces “totally obliterated” the three foes’ bases, according to reports.

Ebrahim Zolfaqari, a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, had some strong words for Trump: “Mr. Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it,” he declared in a recorded statement.

On Monday, Mousavi and Zolfaqari were among those issuing stern proclamations as part of a larger barrage of forceful statements from top commanders. Post-strike, Iran’s most potent figure, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has remained silent.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated from Istanbul on Sunday that Iran possessed “multiple options” to counter the U.S. assault.

Possible reactions being weighed are drone-based revenge and potential interference with the Persian Gulf’s naval pathways. Israel is hinting at more incursions into Iranian land, while Western authorities are on alert for signs of escalation or proxy engagement from Iran.

A direct conflict could prompt Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to call its remaining proxies in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria to action – factions known to have previously targeted American stakes in the region.
