Instant noodles will be tastier with 1 common fridge item

A chef has suggested that one popular food item can enhance the flavour of your quick instant noodles dinner. Sometimes, you want a speedy and convenient meal, especially if there are few options in the fridge or you’re out of leftovers.

New Zealand chef Andy Hearnden, more popularly known as Andy Cooks on social media, rustled up an easy meal of instant ramen to get through the winter in the southern hemisphere. In a recent TikTok video, Andy shared a new instant ramen hack that will intensify the flavour in this cheat meal. All you need is one dairy item, which you probably already have in the fridge.

Simply add a liberal helping of cheese to the dish. Take the instant ramen of your choice, add the chilli flakes and soup base seasoning to a saucepan of water.

Andy warned not to have too much water in the saucepan before adding the dried noodles.

When the noodles are almost cooked, add a generous amount of butter and whatever cheese you have in the fridge. Andy used a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar.

Turn the heat to low and continue cooking until the cheese is melted. Then, pour the mixture into a bowl and garnish with spring onions and chilli crisp.

Andy’s recipe seemed to divide ramen fans, with Ron saying, “Dammit, Andy!! My daughter was eating cheese ramen, and I said, ‘ Nah, that’s not right. Then you make it. ‘ I guess I’m trying it now.”

Nega wrote, “Yeah, cheese tastes good… (not in ramen, though, ew),” while another commented, “I love to mess around with ramen, haha. I put meat with it and veggies like Thai veggies and stuff. I love it.”

Alex said, “I do this for my three girls, and they call it Dad’s special cheesy ramen.”
