King Charles reportedly has “peace of mind” knowing that Harry is living happily in America, a royal insider has revealed.
While the monarch, 76, loves his youngest son dearly, it is no secret that Harry, 40, has caused a significant amount of stress for the King since he quit life as a senior working member of the Royal Family five years ago.
After they switched Palace walls for a Montecito mansion in 2020, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, 43, strained relationships with the Royal Family by exposing a number of intimate family moments, conversations and revelations.
This began in 2021 when Harry and Meghan sat down for a bombshell interview with US TV host Oprah Winfrey, where they insinuated the royals had inappropriate conversations about the colour of their son Prince Archie’s skin before he was born, with Harry’s estranged brother Prince William later confirming that the family were very much “not racist”.
In 2022, the couple took things a step further with their Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, in which they slated life as senior royals and accused the Firm of not protecting them.
This comes after Trump called Meghan “terrible” in an interview with the New York Post, where the president also confirmed he had no plans to deport Harry after controversy surrounding the duke’s US visa and whether he declared his previous drug use.
The insider told the Daily Mail: “The fact is that Harry and Meghan are a source of strain and worry for His Majesty,’ a royal source tells me. ‘While he is sorry that he does not have a relationship with his grandchildren in America, it is easier for his peace of mind that there’s an ocean between him and Harry.”
Despite Harry’s criticisms of his own family over the last five years, the King has remained tight-lipped on where he stands with his youngest son.
It is believed they last saw each other in February 2024 after it was revealed Charles had been diagnosed with cancer, with the pair meeting for less than an hour.
