The Prime Minister’s first call with Donald Trump since the US president’s inauguration was “warm” and “constructive” and Sir Keir Starmer is looking forward to meeting him soon, Downing Street has said.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “It was a very warm call, and it was very constructive.”
He said he did not have any updates on when Sir Keir will visit Washington or when Mr Trump might come to the UK.
Sir Keir has had “very good early engagement” with President Trump, both before before the inauguration, the spokesman said.
“There’s a wide range of areas that we look forward to working with President Trump and his an entire team to build on our already very strong and deep relationship.
“Whether it’s on trade, investment, whether it’s on security and defence, and the Prime Minister looks forward to meeting him soon.”
