Inside F1: The Movie from post-credits scene to runtime and if Brad Pitt really drives

F1: The Movie races into cinemas today (June 27), and film enthusiasts are buzzing with anticipation, reports the Mirror US.

The adrenaline-fuelled drama stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former F1 driver coaxed out of retirement for one last shot at glory.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including James Bond’s Javier Bardem, Damson Idris from Snowfall, Kerry Condon known for Better Call Saul, and Tobias Menzies of Outlander and The Crown fame.

Helmed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick and production by renowned Hollywood figure Jerry Bruckheimer, audiences are set for a gripping cinematic experience.

Those wondering how long the film is: F1: The Movie’s runtime is two hours and 35 minutes, according to IMDb.

Many keen to see the action-packed film are wondering if they should stick around after the credits roll for a potential bonus scene – here’s what you need to know.

Does the F1 Movie have a post-credits scene?

In short, no. However, according to the Hindustan Times, there is a mid-credits scene.

So, it’s worth lingering in the cinema after the film concludes to catch this additional footage.

F1: The Movie follows the trend of numerous other films featuring post-credits and end-credits scenes.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe famously pioneered this concept, inspiring other films like Sonic the Hedgehog, How to Train Your Dragon, and Materialists to follow suit.

Typically, these scenes tease a sequel, which could be the case for F1: The Movie, but fans will have to head to the cinema to discover for themselves.

Does Brad Pitt drive in the F1 movie?

Brad Pitt takes to the driver’s seat in the F1 movie, with producer Bruckheimer disclosing that Pitt insisted on authentic driving scenes rather than relying on bluescreen.

Bruckheimer opened up in an interview, detailing: “Brad said: ‘I’m not doing the movie if we do bluescreen. We have to drive; we all have to be able to do that.'”

He further explained how they implemented a rigorous program that got the actors physically prepped over four months to handle the G-force experienced during real Formula One races. They progressed from driving standard road cars on the track to piloting F4 and then F3 vehicles, before ultimately getting behind the wheel of their final race cars.

Idris, playing the fledgling star driver Joshua Pearce, hit the tracks himself to verify his ability to perform the racing manoeuvres before clinching the role.

Lewis Hamilton, reigning F1 champion, not only acted as a producer but also gave Pitt a thrilling introductory lap on the actor’s very first day.

In conversation with Deadline, Bruckheimer remarked: “It is extraordinary, how fast Lewis goes. Brad got a sense of what he’s in for, but those four months gave them the competence they could drive these cars and gave us the confidence that they were all right without any accidents.

“Of course, they had spinouts, but that’s normal. Even the current drivers have spinouts.”
