Spectacular images reveal the advancement of the £4bn gigafactory currently taking form – which will be the biggest in the UK.
Britain’s most substantial electric vehicle (EV) battery facility is designed to manufacture batteries for as many as 500,000 vehicles each year.
Development is progressing at the Gravity Enterprise Zone situated between Puriton and Woolavington in Somerset by Agratas, the Tata Group’s worldwide battery division.
A fresh M5 junction has been declared as part of the infrastructure proposals for the facility.
The gigafactory, scheduled for complete operation by 2027, will initially supply batteries for Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), both components of the Tata Group.
Photographer Robin Morrison remarked: “The steel work is now up for Building 1 and I was keen to photograph it just after sunrise.
“Just as I got to the site, a huge rain shower went through the area which can be seen in the distance.”
