There are plenty of things that gardeners already have in their homes that are absolute gems for their plants’ health. From eggshells to banana peels, these are some of the things that gardeners have discovered that can provide important nutrients required for plants to thrive. However, as well as kitchen waste, another thing that pretty much every UK household has can also be a great source for plant health.

Experts at Lazy Gardener, have dubbed this one drink as the liquid gold of gardening unveiling all the benefits it has to your plants’ development from how it grows right down to how it tackles diseases.

The liquid gold in question is compost tea. The experts explained that tea allows plants to grow both stronger and quicker and it does this by enhancing the biological life in the soil, resulting in a thriving garden.

The experts explained: “This soil life aids the plant in its gradual development and makes it resistant to diseases. It also introduces healthy bacteria, protozoa, nematodes, etc., in the soil, increasing this soil web life and, therefore, soil quality.”

Taking advantage of all the benefits that compost tea has is extremely straightforward. All you have to do is simply dilute the tea in water in the ratio of one to four, and spray it directly to the soil using a sprayer or water can.

Tea bags can also be added to compost piles to speed up the composting process. It acidity when added to other organic material speeds up the rate in which the pile decomposes.

The gardening liquid gold isn’t just beneficial to outdoor plants; it can be used indoors too. They can help protect indoor plants from fungal infections.

Those with indoor plants should brew a weak tea, add it to a spray bottle, and spray the plants. According to Food Hero, chamomile and black tea leaves work wonders on clearing up fungi.

So, the next time you brew a cuppa, think again before getting rid of that tea bag – you might find that your plants also need a drink.
