Iceland make change at the tills every Wednesday after trial

Students are constantly battling against the ever-rising cost of living. One of the most pressing expenses is food, but now Iceland has announced a new scheme to help.

From September 15, students will have access to a 10% discount on their food if they shop at Iceland. The scheme was initially trialled in stores last year and saw great success, so it will now be brought in permanently. To celebrate the return of the scheme, Iceland and The Food Warehouse are implementing the offer every day from Monday, September 15 until Monday, September 29 and then every Wednesday thereafter.

An Iceland Foods spokesperson said: “With fees going up, we’re stepping up.

“Students already have enough on their plates, so we’re making sure it costs a little less to fill them.

“Our 10% discount is back and to celebrate, we’re going bigger: with daily discounts this September. It’s our way of saying: we’ve got your back, from freshers’ week to exam season.”

To access the discount, all you need to do is head to Iceland and do your shop, then show your valid student ID at the till to receive your 10% off.

It’s not just students who can enjoy these discounts, though.

Anyone over the age of 60 can enjoy the same 20% discount every Tuesday. In order to use the discount, all you need to do is sign up for an Iceland Bonus card and then verify your age at the point of purchase with some sort of ID.

This can be with a bus card, a driver’s license or a senior’s rail pass.
