‘I visited UK seaside town and discovered smallest house in Britain’

It’s simple to fall head over heels for Wales, and one American visitor has done precisely that, joining countless US travellers who’ve been captivated by the UK, with some having relocated. Kalani Smith, recognised as kalanighosthunter on TikTok, regularly chronicles his journeys whilst exploring the UK, and his most recent expedition to Wales left him utterly astonished.

In a fresh video, he travelled to Conwy to discover the smallest house in Great Britain, and it’s reasonable to say he was completely bowled over by the minuscule property. The dwelling is understood to possess a floor area measuring 3.05m by 1.8m (10.0ft by 5.9ft) and is impossible to miss, as it’s daubed in a vibrant red hue for everyone to observe.

Should you have never visited, it sits adjacent to the Conwy Castle walls, and the ground floor is dedicated to the living space with room for coal and an open fire. Meanwhile, visitors will also discover a water tap concealed behind the stairs, rendering the home especially quaint.

In the video, Kalani remarked: “This is the smallest house in Great Britain. Oh my gosh – how is this a house? This is crazy. In London, this is probably like £500,000.”

Kalani is plainly taken aback by the dwelling in the footage, as he cannot fathom just how diminutive it is. You can barely fit two people into a room, and some of the furniture is similarly petite.

He was flabbergasted that it was considered sufficiently spacious to inhabit, with the experience leaving him in complete awe. Wales truly does harbour all manner of peculiar and marvellous offerings.

Social media users were left gobsmacked by the property, with over 5,000 people tuning in to watch the video tour provided by Kalani. One viewer exclaimed: “It’s iconic.”

Another chimed in with: “It always makes me think, from the outside, of our Royal Mail postboxes. Inside it’s smaller. Still amazing though.”

A third shared: “I chose to discuss this house in my college class last year. Would love to visit.” Meanwhile, a fourth declared: “I could live in that.”

Another person added: “I love watching where you go, as someone who’s lived in South London all her life. I’m seeing what you are seeing for the first time too. Love it.”

To answer any burning questions, Britain’s smallest house is nestled at the end of a terrace on Conwy’s quayside. It’s an unmissable sight, and many passersby enjoy popping in for a look.

The property is so iconic that some have dubbed it a “national treasure”, and visitors are consistently charmed by its unique character. Many also appreciate learning about the house’s rich history.

Visit Conwy states: “The smallest house in Great Britain is just 72 inches wide by 122 inches high. It was occupied right up until May 1900 and, ever since, it has been visited and marvelled at by thousands of people from around the world.

“The last person to live in the house was a local fisherman called Robert Jones (who also happened to be 6 foot 3). Before Mr Jones, an elderly couple lived there.

“The house may be small but it’s extremely practical. There’s just enough room for a single bed, a fireplace and a coal bunker.”
