I visited Asda every day for a week—yellow sticker labels were best at 1 time of day

I’ve been on a hunt for yellow sticker labels recently, visiting various supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s and M&S, to discover the best time to find a bargain. I decided to try Asda, too, and I couldn’t believe how many I found at one particular time of day.

Discount stickers, which are often yellow, are used to alert shoppers to goods that have been reduced in price, such as food approaching its sell-by or use-by date. The majority of items sold on yellow sticker labels can be frozen, such as bread, meat, and ready meals.

The labels are typically applied at different times, depending on the supermarket. However, these reductions are often implemented in the evening, shortly before closing.

On my first visit to Asda, I could not believe how many items were in the reduced section, which was a large fridge area at the end of an aisle, close to the fresh fruit and vegetables.

The discounted goods included sandwich fillings, packet ham, fries, ready meals and pork pies.

Cooked chicken breast, natural yoghurt and ready meals were also hugely discounted.

I could not believe how many items were marked down, and it was definitely the best selection I’d seen on the hunt for yellow sticker labels so far.

Whilst I always thought supermarkets reduced goods in the evening, this visit was actually at 1pm.

In fact, the best bargains across the week in my local Asda were definitely in the early afternoon.

My visits in the mornings were disappointing, and in the evenings, most of the best bargains had been snapped up by shoppers.

On one afternoon visit, around 2pm, there was a tall trolley full of discounted breads and baked goods, towards the back of the store.

Bagels, sliced bread, doughnuts and baps were all reduced on yellow sticker labels, with many shoppers snapping them up.

I couldn’t believe how many goods were on offer, but it is important to note that this was just one local store, and it could differ across the country.
