I tried Simba heatwave-proof ‘cool touch’ duvet – it’s now on sale

The mattress brand is running the sale event from now until July 28, offering up to 20% off across its award-winning sleep range, including Hybrid mattresses, top-rated pillows and duvets with “cool-touch” – this helps regulate body temperature and keep sleepers cool.

Shoppers can save up to £1,100 on bundles – be it a mattress bundle (complete with duvet and pillows), a bed bundle (frame and mattress), or go all out with a complete set (bed frame, mattress, duvet and pillows), and you’ll save even more money than if you purchased each item separately.

It’s no secret that the health benefits of a good night’s kip are seemingly endless, and the Simba Summer Hybrid Duvet has been a lifesaver for a hot sleeper like me. Currently discounted to £109.65 from £129, the lightweight 4.5-tog bedding sent me to slumber during a heatwave.

Simba also offers a Hybrid Duvet for all-year-round use, and it features the same ‘cool touch’. Daily Express shopping editor Aimee Robinson tested the 10.5 Tog bedding, which is ideal for autumn but, as she mentions, ‘might be too much once the peak summer months arrive.’ You can read her review in full here.

With the summer sale going on, a double Hybrid Duvet is marked down from £199 to £169.15, while the Summer Hybrid Duvet of the same size is much cheaper, reducing from £129 to £109.65.

Available in Single, Double, King and Super King with savings up to £34, the Summer Hybrid Duvet makes it feel more comfortable to get to sleep in hot, muggy weather. For a full disclosure, I didn’t own a cooling fan before the review so the duvet was my only hope to keep me from oversweating at night.

The special webbing pattern stitched to the bottom of the duvet, provides an instant cooling sensation to  draw heat away from body. It’s also stitched into squares to prevent clumping, and is machine washable at 40C. The fresh cotton cover gives me a down-like comfort and had me ditching the duvet cover. Having said that, there is a risk of getting stains on the pristine white fabric.

For those who prefer to add colours or patterns to their bedding essentials, the Night Lark Gingham Print Coverless Duvet in blue and taupe are perfect for summer styles and they are available in both 4.5 and 10.5 tog with prices starting from £60.

Since I swapped my duvet to Simba’s Summer Hybrid Duvet, I’ve had some of the most peaceful sleeps and it kept my body temperature cool. I stopped kicking off the covers and it doesn’t weight me down like other duvets and keeps me snug without getting hot – it’s a bliss to be able to enjoy some restful sleeps.

However, my brother is not a big fan as he finds it “too cold”. He said: “It’s nice to sleep in it but after a few hours, I felt cold and had to grab a fleece throw instead. It’s too lightweight and I like to sleep with a weighted blanket.”

A 4.5 Tog duvet is mostly considered for hot weather use, while a 10.5 Tog is better for all-year use. So those prone to cold might want to invest in a two-in-one duvet such as Dusk’s Feels Like Down Duvet Collection. Their All Seasons duvet is comprised of two separate 4.5 and 9 tog duvets, fastened together with buttons. A double duvet is retailed at £75 but shoppers can enjoy 15% off with code EXTRA15 at checkout, reducing the price to £63.75.
