I tried Greggs’s new Christmas menu and the tastiest item was only £2.50

There is no better time to get yourself a treat now the cold weather has arrived, and Britain’s favourite baker has plenty of snacks to enjoy without breaking the bank.

Greggs has released their Christmas menu which included their famous Festive Bake that featured heavily in the bakery’s first-ever festive advert that they put out this year.

I decided to try out Greggs’s Christmas menu myself to see if the Festive Bake is really the star this holiday season or if is it simply not worth the hype.

However, Greggs has spoiled customers with more than baked goods this festive season. I saw a range of hot drinks, desserts, and even a mouthwatering new sandwich to try.

I managed to get a few items to sample the menu but unfortunately could not get the Festive Flatbread, which must be really popular, as I tried three separate stores to see if they had it stocked.

Is the Greggs Christmas Menu worth it?

Festive Bake – £2.50

I really enjoyed this pastry and believe it is definitely worth trying at least once this holiday season if you wish to switch up your usual Greggs order.

It is filled with chicken, stuffing and bacon bits with a really delicious creamy sage and cranberry sauce.

What makes the Festive Bake stand out is the incredibly creamy sauce, where you can really taste the cranberries and sage, which really go together.

This delicious bake was warm and filling, and for only £2.50, I will definitely try to get it for lunch again sometime before the festive season ends.

Christmas Lunch Baguette – £4.65

The new Christmas lunch baguette will likely be loved by anyone wanting a big sandwich. It is packed with chicken slices, bacon, gravy, cheese, and cranberry relish.

However, I did not like it personally. The bread was extremely chewy and hard to bite into, making it difficult to eat this sandwich.

I ended up not finishing it, and despite having many similar ingredients to the Festive Bake, it was not nearly as flavourful or tasty.

If you are craving something savoury from Greggs, I think you would be better off going for the Festive Bake, as it is not only better but also cheaper.

Gingerbread Flat White – £3.00

As a massive fan of pumpkin spice lattes, I was hoping this drink would be a new festive favourite of mine but was sadly a little disappointed.

This toasty coffee is incredibly sweet, as you would expect, and has the perfect amount of gingerbread flavouring. I did not think the taste overpowered the coffee.

However, I think this drink was just okay and not really doing anything different, so I do not think I would ever order it again.

If I were going to treat myself to a warm winter drink in the future, I think I would rather have a hot chocolate so I could have something delicious rather than just an average drink.

Toffee Fudge Muffin – £1.85

This muffin was moist, and you could really taste the toffee in the cake mixture itself. However, I did not think the toffee sauce in the middle of the bun was very flavourful, but overall, it was a nice sweet treat.

Like the Gingerbread flat white, I think it was simply fine and I would be unlikely to order it again as I think there are much better sweet treats on Gregg’s Christmas menu.

Christmas Mini Caramel Shortbread – £2.60

I loved these mini shortbread bites and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a bite-sized dessert to go with a cup of tea.

These biscuits are covered in caramel and white chocolate and have golden flakes on top to give them a Christmas sparkle.

The shortbread comes in a packet of six, which I really liked because it was easy to save them for later, as I did not want to eat them all at once.

However, the only drawback to the shortbread is that the base is very crumbly, which could be messy to eat if you are out in public, so be prepared to get a few crumbs on your favourite holiday jumper.
