With a plethora of tips and tricks marketed for anti-ageing, it can be challenging to determine which approach will ensure a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
However, a mature beauty guru has taken to TikTok to warn people to stop buying expensive cosmetic creams and use this key natural ingredient, which can be found in any supermarket.
Going by the username @vicky.derosa, the healthy living expert is “dedicated to offering effective healthy lifestyle tools” and information that makes it easy and affordable for people to live in great condition.
In her video, Vicky began by cautioning: “The billion-dollar anti-ageing industry is going to hate this video.” She continued by telling a story about how she got sunburned as a teenager.
Her Greek grandfather rushed to her rescue with a natural remedy that saved her skin from severe damage – yoghurt.
Vicky continued: “Now listen, it turns out this is one of the best things you can do for your face. It’s one of the best things you can do to your face for lines, for acne scars, for dark circles, for inflammation, for, you know, brightening the face, anti-ageing.
“Trust me it works unbelievably. Oh my God, I had such bad sunburn that my face actually blew up. But my grandfather came at me with yoghurt. I had to lie down and he put yoghurt all over my face.
“But if you actually want to find a way to actually get rid of fine lines, get rid of dark circles under your eyes, you know if you wake up and you’ve got some sunburn if you got acne scars you need medication for – five, 10, 15 minutes, whatever you can spare.”
She added: “If you can do a yoghurt mask once a day, two or three times a week. The lactic acid and the zinc are what is actually amazing for the skin, it’s anti-inflammatory because of everything it has in it.
“It’s easy and it’s cheap and it saves you money. You don’t have to go to the store and get all sorts of different masks, and spend hundreds of dollars on these masks. Yoghurt – whole-fat yoghurt is the best thing for your skin.”
According to Healthline, Yoghurt’s creamy texture is thought to help lock in moisture in the skin, brighten it, fight acne, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin tone “with the help of naturally occurring probiotics.”
Viewers quickly rushed to Vicky’s comments to agree with this beauty trick. One person admitted: “Using it for 10 years now no wrinkles at 35. Also, mix a little bit of mashed banana.”
A second person said: “Yes yoghurt against burns it’s known, childhood memories in the Balkans.” Someone else added: “Same! I grew up in Romania and the yoghurt always came to the rescue.”
Another shared: “Yes! We do this in India too. Also, tomato mixed with some milk.” Whilst another commented: “Dr Whitney Bowe talks about yoghurt in her book The Beauty of Dirty Skin -you are spot on!”
