‘I earned £400 in four weeks on Vinted – and you can too’

A thrifty mum revealed her secret to raking in a tidy sum through the Vinted app, pocketing hundreds of pounds in just a matter of weeks.

The app, which allows users to buy and sell pre-loved fashion and goods, has become a lucrative platform for Jess, known on TikTok as @the_pilotswife.

She boasts an impressive £400 earnings in four weeks by selling on Vinted and decided to share her top three tips for successful sales on the platform.

Jess began using the app last August and now exclusively sells her children’s outgrown clothes.

She advised: “My first tip would be if you’ve got a lot of stuff then upload what you will to your ‘wardrobe’ and then after that upload one or two items every single day. It keeps you at the top of the algorithm and then that means people keep clicking on your stuff. The more people click on it the quicker you’re going to sell your stuff.

“For my second tip, post things quickly so have your clothes ready, have them clean, have them in an accessible place, know where your packaging is so Vinted used to have a box”.

Jess expressed her preference for cost-effective packaging, saying: “I think boxes are expensive and they’re really hard to come by cheaper or free so I’m not interested in that. I would say use a bag so if you do a lot of shopping and you’ve got loads of bags, reuse them.”

For those short on bags, Jess highlighted the option to purchase a pack of Vinted-branded postage bags, available in various sizes and currently on offer for £4.65 with complimentary delivery. She praised these bags as “great” and shared she now sells between two to six items daily on Vinted.

The mother also advised her 3,842 TikTok followers to familiarise themselves with the locations of their In Post lockers and drop-off points for whichever delivery courier they use – be it Yodel or DPD. She explained: “Once you’ve packed everything up, stuck the label or got your QR code you know where you’re going, you can just drop it off and then that’s it, done.”

She further shared: “Third tip is I accept offers on everything. If you’re going to accept offers, do it quickly. I accept offers because I want to get rid. If anyone offers anything as soon as I see it, I accept it.

“The reason for that is if you’re offering something it’s usually because you’re looking for something and if they’re offering to you, they’re offering to someone else.”

Jess continued by suggesting if you aim to earn a specific amount, set your listing price slightly higher. She elaborated: “If you do it that way then when they offer it you’re more likely to get the price that you’re looking for.

Her Vinted tips video on TikTok has received more than 15,000 likes.

TikTok users shared their own experiences of selling on Vinted in the comments section of Jess’ video, with several expressing gratitude for her helpful advice.
