‘I confronted my rude neighbour and exposed her lies after she stole my cat’

A video of a cat owner confronting his neighbour after she “stole” his cat has gone viral on TikTok, with the video having an unexpected ending and it has been viewed almost one million times.

The cat owner films the interaction with the lady next door as he approaches her front porch, with the sub-text reading “confronting the neighbour who stole my cat”.

After knocking on the door, the man sarcastically asks: “Have you got your own cat by any chance?”

The woman replies honestly: “The cat that you’ve got, it comes in here.”

The interaction develops with the man replying “So is that what the cat litter tray is for?” questioning why she is buying amenities for his pet.

In the video, the man claims that it is the “10th day” since he saw his pet, and he is clearly worried about the welfare of the animal.

The pet owner then takes a firm stance with the owner: “For 10 days we have not seen the cat. We’ve been ringing the vets, I’ve rung RSPCA, I believe she is in here…”

The neighbour then exclaims she “put her in a cattery” which is a cat boarding facility cat owners put their animals in when they go away.

This comment sparks tension between the two, and seconds later, the woman opens a door within her home, and the missing cat comes running out.

The viral TikTok video has gained over 56,000 likes and over three thousand comments posted by worried social media users, who are concerned about the welfare of the animal. At the time of writing, it has had 932,000 views.

User mith said: “Blimey, one thing to pet and occasionally give a treat, but to put it in a cattery!”

Another said: “I know obviously that cat literally ran for his life, but it’s widely known that cats also choose their owners.”

One user stated: “I had a neighbour do this and in the end she moved and took my cat with her.”

Other TikTok users have had similar experiences: “I had a similar argument with my neighbour making out my cat was hers trying to steal him but my cat is chipped and has a collar with my name on it.”
