As a huge TV and film love, I am always on top of what’s new on Netflix – and this month, the streaming site is coming through with a huge selection of additions to its platform.

I have an extremely wide taste, ranging from hard-hitting documentaries to light-hearted romance.

This month, there is plenty to choose from, with some old classics coming to the floor as well as a refreshing new rom-com series that explores whether Brits and Americans really talk the same language.

If you are looking for you next watch, then look no further, these are the best films and TV shows for you to binge throughout the summer. Here are what I think the five best additions to the streaming platform are this month.

Captain Phillips

Captain Phillips, directed by Paul Greenglass, was released in 2013 and is an American biographical action thriller film based on the real-life events faced by Captain Richard Phillips after he was kidnapped by Somali pirates. Hanks stars as Captain Phillips, the American merchant mariner opposite Barkhad Abdi who plays pirate leader Abduwali Muse.

Attack on London: Hunting The 7/7 Bombers

This new four-part documentary details accounts and never-seen-before footage to tell the story of the 7/7 bombings on London’s transport network that took place in 2005. It also goes into depth about the aftermath of the events and ensures stories are told from the survivor’s perspective, as well as shining light on more detailed information than ever before.

Blow

2001’s Blow is set inn the turbulence of the 1970s, a time that saw the international drug trade undergo a fast, violent and lucrative revolution. The film follows the very fast rise and fall of George Jung (Johnny Depp), a high-school football star independently became the world’s premiere importer of cocaine from Colombia’s Medellin cartel, changing the course of an entire generation. Depp stars across Penélope Cruz in the biographical crime drama.

Mr. Robot

Psychological thriller series Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a young, anti-social cybersecurity engineer and hacker who is recruited by an anarchist known as Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) to join a group of hacktivists. Their mission is to erase all consumer debt by attacking a powerful corporation.

Too Much

Too Much is Netflix’s newest romantic comedy series and it has been created by Lena Dunham. It follows Jessica, a New York workaholic in her 30s, who decides to move to London in the hopes of a fresh start after a painful breakup. Despite this, she ends up in another toxic relationship with Felix, a man with numerous red flags and the series explores their unusual connection and the challenges of their transatlantic romance. The cast includes Megan Stalter as Jessica, Will Sharpe as Felix, and Emily Ratajkowski as Felix’s ex-girlfriend, Polly.
