Emergency services rushed to a South Indian restaurant in Greater Manchester after several customers suddenly became unwell, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene. The incident took place just after lunchtime on Saturday, September 6, at a well-known South Indian restaurant on Northenden Road in Sale. According to Greater Manchester Police, at least eight people were treated for what were described as ‘minor reactions’.

One individual, however, reportedly suffered more severe symptoms. Emergency medical teams treated several diners on-site, and the scene remained active for several hours as investigations continued.

While police have not officially named the venue, the incident is believed to be linked to food served at Dosa Kingss, a South Indian restaurant in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News.

A significant number of emergency vehicles, including fire engines and police cars, were seen lining the street outside the restaurant.

Northenden Road was temporarily cordoned off as crews assessed the situation. Authorities ruled out the possibility of a gas leak, which had initially been suspected.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 12.40pm today, we received a report of people becoming unwell at a restaurant on Northenden Road, Sale.

“Emergency services quickly attended and several people were treated at the scene for minor reactions. Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.”

Officials from Trafford Council and the Health and Safety Executive were seen at the scene throughout the afternoon and into the evening, continuing to assess the situation.

On social media, the restaurant later said: “Dear valued customers, due to unforseen circumstance, we are temporarily closed.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvince this may cause an truly appreciate your understanding and support. We look forward to sereving you again.”

It remains unclear whether this is connected to the incident.

Investigations are currently ongoing to determine exactly what happened.
