Police have discovered a massive cannabis farm not far away from King Charles’s private home in Gloucestershire. More than 225 plants were seized at an industrial unit in Tetbury on Wednesday night, as officers patrolled the area for suspects.

The King’s Highgrove home is also in Tetbury. Police said two officers from Tetbury Neighbourhood Police Team found the cannabis factory while searching the unit after they challenged “suspicious men who fled through one of the buildings”.

The force said they also found the suspects’ living quarters, which were also on site.

According to the announcement made on social media, after dismantling the “grow”, police had to “borrow” the “suspects’ duvet covers” as they ran out of “extra large evidence bags”.

All 225 plants were recovered, while Gloucestershire Police confirmed no arrests had been made, according to the BBC.

But the force added a cheeky note to its announcement, saying: “We nearly didn’t get all the evidence in our van.

“We’ll be happy to return the bedding if the owners would like to get in touch with us at Cirencester. It’s been quite the night.”

It’s not the first time the area has had to deal with drug-related queries.

Last November, residents near Highgrove were asked to shut their windows due to fumes after another cannabis farm was ablaze.

Nine fire engines extinguished the fire, and helicopters were also involved in the search for the three suspects, who fled the scene.

At the time, Gloucestershire Police said: “A 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of the production of a class B drug, namely cannabis.”
