Huge British singer to make 'Glastonbury return' after two-year break

Lewis Capaldi is set to make a huge comeback with a new song and secret set after a two-year break. The Scottish singer announced in 2023 that he would be taking a step back from performing for the foreseeable future. The Someone You Loved singer performed at Glastonbury Festival in 2023 but struggled to finish his set due to voice issues and the impact of his Tourette’s diagnosis. Prior to his 2023 performance, he cancelled all his other touring commitments in June ahead of the festival at Worthy Farm to allow himself time to “rest and recover”. Now, Lewis is reportedly doing a secret set at Glastonbury this year and will be releasing a brand new single, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication, “Lewis took a decent chunk of time away, and now he’s ready for his fans to hear what he has been working on.

“Tomorrow is a huge day for him. He will be releasing a brand new single and it is his Pyramid Stage performance. He is in a great place and feels ready to come back into the spotlight.”

The last time Lewis performed at Glastonbury, he started to have vocal issues. During his set, he said at the time: “I’m going to be honest, everybody, but I’m starting to lose my voice up here, but we’re going to keep going and we’re going to go until the end. I just need you all to sing with me as loud as you can if that’s okay?”

The crowd rushed to support him and helped finish his most famous soundtrack, Someone You Loved, as he steadily lost his voice. Lewis added: “I recently took three weeks off just because I’ve been nonstop the past year and I wanted to take a wee break from my head for my mental health.

“I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it’s obviously so incredible so I just want to thank you all for coming out. I was scared, but you’ve really made me feel at ease, so thank you very much for that.”

Express Online has contacted Lewis Capaldi’s representative for comment.
