A betting company has tipped the Reform UK leader to become Britain’s next Prime Minister, succeeding Sir Keir Starmer.
Nigel Farage entered the House of Commons on July 4 after winning his Clacton-on-Sea seat in the general election. Despite his party only having five members of Parliament, the Reform UK leader now “heads the betting” to become the country’s next leaader too, according to a major bookmaker.
In a major milestone, Mr Farage’s odds have shortened to 5/2, with Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch holding at 3/1.
In a social media post on X, Ladbrokes Politics said: “And for the first time, Nigel Farage now heads the betting to become next Prime Minister.”
“The money keeps coming for Reform UK to win the most seats at the next General Election,” Ladbrokes said.
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner hovers in third place, with Health Secretary West Streeting holding onto a distant fourth. The former Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in the top five, with odds of 14/1.
Mr Farage has risen to the top of the leaderboard after a Find Out Now opinion poll put Reform UK on 24%, just two points behind the Tories and one point ahead of Labour.
This would mean Reform UK would pick up 90 more seats in the next election that it currently holds, greatly improving upon its 2024 figures.
Mr Farage highlighted the importance of Local Elections in 2025 during a social media exchange with Elon Musk.
The Tesla CEO asked: “When is the first electoral opportunity?” The Reform UK leader then replied: “The first step is the English County Council elections on May 1, 2025. Britain needs Reform.”
The party has gained incredible momentum following a number of defections to the party. Last week, ex-Tory MP Dame Andrew Jenkyns joined Reform UK, closely followed by the influential conservative commentator Tim Montgomerie.
Just this week, former Conservative donor Nick Candy jumped ship too, placed to become the party’s treasurer in January. This comes after Suella Braverman’s husband, Rael, joins Reform UK too.
