A longtime rivalry will be renewed on Olympic ice tonight.

Preliminary rounds of the women’s ice hockey tournament are wrapping up, and today, Feb. 10, USA and Canada are set to face off. Both teams are undefeated so far, but only one team will stay unbeaten after the final buzzer.

In the leadup to the Olympics, the USA and Canadian national teams played a four-game rivalry series, which Team USA swept, outscoring the Canadians 24-7 in the process. So far in the Olympics, the Americans have scored five goals in all three of their Group A victories.

Team Canada was dealt a significant blow in yesterday’s game against the Czech Republic when captain Marie-Philip Poulin sustained a lower body injury. Poulin, who is one goal shy of tying the all-time Olympic record, has been ruled out for today’s game, .
