For many homeowners across the UK, achieving sparkling glass can feel like an impossible task, often associated with costly cleaning products.

However, a clever and affordable tip shared by Funeral Guide offers a quick and easy solution to stubborn stains and limescale that won’t break the bank.

The secret is not an expensive commercial cleaner with lots of chemicals, nor something you need to source from niche stores.

According to the expert, the humble duo of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is the key to achieving a gleaming finish—without the hefty price tag.

A 568ml bottle of white vinegar can be picked up for as little as 35p at Tesco or Asda, while a 200g tub of bicarbonate of soda costs just 65p.

For under £1, these everyday kitchen staples can work wonders on your shower glass.

“People often overlook the potential of everyday items lurking in their kitchen cupboards,” explains Funeral Guide.

“Vinegar’s natural acidity cuts through limescale and soap scum, while bicarbonate of soda’s gentle abrasiveness ensures you won’t damage the glass.”

To put this simple hack into action, begin by mixing one part white vinegar with one part warm water in a spray bottle.

Lightly mist the solution over your shower door, ensuring full coverage of the glass. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, allowing the mixture to break down grime and build-up.

While the vinegar solution works its magic, mix two tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda with just enough water to form a thick paste.

Using a soft sponge, gently scrub the glass in circular motions. The natural fizzing reaction between the vinegar and bicarbonate will help lift stubborn deposits, leaving your glass sparkling clean.

After scrubbing, rinse the glass thoroughly with warm water to remove any remaining residue.

Finish by drying the surface with a microfibre cloth or squeegee, and for that extra shine, buff with a dry, lint-free cloth.

“The beauty of this method is in its simplicity,” adds the expert. “It’s effective, environmentally friendly, and saves you from the harsh chemicals found in many commercial products.”

With this easy and inexpensive approach, achieving crystal-clear glass could be simpler than you think.
