Three natural spider and fly repellents
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a popular autumn home scent, but it also happens to be one that spiders dislike.
You can use it around the home in decorative bowls filled with cinnamon sticks or opt for cinnamon-scented candles.
Peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils
These strong-smelling oils are effective natural deterrents for spiders. When diluted with water, they can be used as a spray around door frames, windows, and corners.
However, eucalyptus should be used with caution in pet-friendly homes, as it can be harmful to cats and dogs.
Basil and cloves
These ingredients are particularly helpful for keeping fruit flies away, whether separately or combined.
A potted basil plant or fresh basil placed near entry points like windows or kitchen sinks can reduce fly activity.
Similarly, a bowl containing cloves and lemon creates a strong aroma that makes the area less appealing to fruit flies.
