For many, cleaning the oven is a household chore that’s often delayed as long as possible. Over time, food debris, dirt and grime can build up on the glass door and inside the oven itself, proving stubborn to remove – even with the right cleaning products.

As such, this challenging task should be tackled regularly before the build-up becomes too difficult to handle. However, if you’re currently dealing with a big mess, one cleaning pro on TikTok has a simple solution. Even better, it only requires two common household ingredients you likely already have at home, and there’s no ‘heavy scrubbing’ involved either.

The easy hack was shared by Australian lifestyle influencer Chantel Mila, who frequently assists her followers with their cleaning woes by posting simple home organisation tips.

She says that deep cleaning your oven doesn’t have to be a hard and time-consuming task, thanks to a simple mixture created with two affordable ingredients.

In one of viral latest videos, she pointed out that all you need to do is mix one-third of a cup of washing-up liquid with one cup of baking soda and give it a good stir to combine the two.

Then, apply the mixture all over your oven glass, and simply leave it to soak in for around half an hour. According to Chantel, this mixture helps to break down any tough grease, which is all too common when it comes to ovens.

Then, once the time is up, simply take a sponge and gently rub the mixture in using circular motions to lift even more of the grime out.

If you’re dealing with burnt-on marks and stains, you can use a squeegee to scrape these away.

She pointed out that this method also works inside your oven too, and demonstrated herself following the same process for the interior.

Previously, her oven was caked in stains and spills, whilst it was sparkling and looked as good as new after wiping the mixture off.

In the video’s caption, she wrote: “Make your oven sparkle (without heavy scrubbing or harsh fumes!) This mix has been my go-to for years – it’s amazing at melting through tough grease!”
