Raving about the results, Liz shared how using dish soap and a £1 squeegee worked the best to get her windows gleaming.

She wrote: “I want to thank every member of this group who posted about cleaning windows without smearing. I used to use Elbow Grease window and glass cleaner with a kitchen roll. Big mistake, as it always left smears, especially when the sun was out.

“I tried the Fairy Liquid mixed with hot water in a spray bottle and a squeegee, and it took less than 50 seconds to clean the whole living room window, and the results were astounding.

“With just a £1 squeegee from Savers, it did the job. I’m so happy right now and can’t wait to get the rest of the house done.”

Group members took to the comments to ask whether any dish soap could be used for the job. Liz replied: “It doesn’t have to be Fairy, I use the Aldi washing up liquid and it’s just as good.”

When asked about how much dish soap to use, the cleaning enthusiast said: “Just a little bit, you don’t need to add too much, as it will be harder to wash off.”

Many cleaning fans also shared their love of this method. Julie Hall wrote: “I always use that method for cleaning windows, it’s so handy and very quick.”

Linda Doyle commented: “I clean my windows that way and have them done for a long time.”

Debbie Scott said: “I used to work in a bakery and we washed the glass with hot soapy water and dried it with a newspaper.”

Maryann Black added: “I use washing up liquid too, and for mirrors. It’s the only thing that works.”
