Prince Archie reportedly played a key role in one of his parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new projects, it has emerged. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently announced through their media company, Archewell Productions, a new “multi-year first look” deal with Netflix, as their previous lucrative one was nearing its end.
While announcing the news, the couple also revealed all projects that they are and will be working on with the streaming giant. One of them is called Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within. The new documentary short, by Campfire Studios in Association with Wontanara Productions and Archewell Productions, will focus on a tiny orphanage in Uganda, which was born out of the HIV/Aids crisis. And it looks like, aside from Harry’s humanitarian efforts in Africa, his son had a role to play in the latest project.
According to The Telegraph, Harry and Meghan watched videos of the Masaka Kids dance troupe with Prince Archie long before the film project came to them in 2023, which inspired them to take on it.
A spokesperson for the couple told the paper: “They would watch the videos regularly with Archie at home.
“So, they were already admirers of the organisation before the film project came to them in 2023.”
They added: “When the Duke and Duchess were made aware of the short, they quickly recognised the kids from their viral videos and fell in love with their deeper stories.”
Harry and Meghan are listed among the producers and the documentary will be released later this year.
But the outlet stressed that the Sussex couple were not involved in the filming of Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within and were not thought to have traveled to Uganda.
The duke only recently stepped down from Sentebale, the charity he founded nearly 20 years ago to help children orphaned by Aids in Lesotho, following a boardroom battle with its chairwoman.
Harry, who was left devastated by the development and who is considering starting a new humanitarian charity, vowed to continue his commitment to supporting youngsters in the region.
