Hot weather maps show the areas of England that will be baked in 29C heat after the country has already experienced a number of heatwaves in the past few weeks. Summer 2025 has been a particularly hot one for the UK, with temperatures reaching the mid to high 30s in some parts. Now, hot weather maps show high temperatures returning, with much of the country reaching the high 20s. The Met Office has revealed that temperatures are likely to be near or above average for much of August.

A weather map from NetWeather shows hot weather hitting a huge chunk of England on Tuesday, August 5. The hottest areas will be in the south of the country, with cities like London, Brighton, and Southampton experiencing some of the warmest conditions. Meanwhile, high temperatures extend further north, and the map stays red up to areas such as Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Cheshire, where temperatures are likely to exceed at least 24C.

The hottest counties in England on Tuesday, August 8, where temperatures will be over 24C, are:

  • Cornwall
  • Devon
  • Dorset
  • Somerset
  • Bristol
  • Wiltshire
  • Hampshire
  • Isle of White
  • Berkshire
  • Surrey
  • West Sussex
  • East Sussex
  • Kent
  • Greater London
  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Buckinghamshire
  • Oxfordshire
  • Gloucestershire
  • Herefordshire
  • Worcestershire
  • West Midlands
  • Warwickshire
  • Northamptonshire
  • Bedfordshire
  • Cambriddgeshire
  • Suffolk
  • Norfolk
  • Rutland
  • Leicestershire
  • Staffordshire
  • Shropshire
  • Derbyshire
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Lincolnshire

More specifically, the counties that will potentially experience 29C heat are:

  • Dorset
  • Hampshire
  • West Sussex

The Met Office reports that the beginning of August will likely see rainy and windy conditions. However, high pressure is expected to build soon after which will bring more “settled” conditions.

“The highest chance of more prolonged drier and sunnier weather is expected across southern parts of the country,” the Met Office predicts. Temperatures are expected to be near average for this time of the year, but may get hotter as we get further into August.

From August 9, the Met Office forecasts more prolonged periods of sunny weather across much of the country. It will be primarily focused around the south but could potentially spread to other parts of the country. “There is a chance of some very warm or hot spells, especially in the south and east,” the forecast reads.
