New weather maps show when Brits can expect highs of 30C to return. WXCharts has forecast hot weather to return to the UK this coming week (July 18).
It will be hottest in the southeast of the country (London, Reading, Brighton), where it will be 30C, according to the forecaster which uses Metdesk data to compile its maps. Surrounding counties will be 29C (Milton Keynes, Brighton, Bristol, Canterbury). It will be 28C in Gloucester, Ipswich, Northampton, and Peterborough. The rest of south England (Norwich, Nottingham, Exeter), the northeast (Sheffield, York, Newcastle) and Wales (Conwy, Cardiff) will sit between 23C and 27C.
It will be coldest in west Scotland (Fort William) and Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), which will be between 16C and 18C. The rest of the UK (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Carlisle, Liverpool) will be between 19C and 23C. The Met Office, however, is only forecasting highs of 25C on this date. Meanwhile Netweather maps predict highs of 31C in London and the south east of England.
The Met Office said of the period: “Weather conditions are expected to be changeable across the UK during this forecast period. Periods of fine and dry weather are expected at times. These settled spells could persist for several days at a time and are likely to be accompanied by plenty of sunshine.
“Interspersed with this will be cloudier, more unsettled intervals which will bring some showers or longer spells of persistent rainfall. Some of the rainfall is likely to be heavy in places, with a risk of thunderstorms at times as well.
“Temperatures are expected to be above normal for the majority of the UK throughout this period. Some hot conditions are likely to develop at times, particularly in southern and eastern areas of the UK.”
This Evening and Tonight: Showery rain developing over parts of the south and west, with a chance of thunder across parts of Northern Ireland. Low cloud in the east progressing inland again. Another warm night to come, but turning breezy in the north.
Monday: Showers, with a few thunderstorms, pushing northeast through the day interspersed by sunny spells. Cooler and fresher air follows from the west, but still warm in parts of the east.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday: A changeable period with rain and showers, heavy at times, mixed between sunnier and brighter spells. Fresher air reaching all on Tuesday with near average temperatures, then becoming warmer again.
