Hot air balloon smashes into a tree then hits country club with couple on board

A couple aboard a hot air balloon escaped unharmed after the aircraft smashed into a tree before making a dramatic crash landing at a Northern California country club.

Online footage shows the balloon drifting down toward Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield on June 6, clipping a tree before slamming to the ground near the golf course.

Witnesses described the incident as a “controlled crash landing,” with several commenters noting that rough landings can occur during hot air balloon flights, depending on weather conditions and available landing space.

The balloon eventually came to a standstill in an open area of the property, according to witnesses who watched the landing unfold.

However, these incidents are far from rare.

Back on April 27, a terrifying hot air balloon mishap took an unexpected turn for the better when strong winds prompted an unplanned launch at Sky River Casino, sending the balloon careening into the side of the building before a safe landing.

Throughout the captured footage, the wind is evident as the tall grass sways along the field, while audible gusts are heard.

As the balloon descends, it’s briefly lifted again by a gust, popping up before finally settling onto its side.

Following its landing, the balloon is seen almost completely deflated by the wind.

In another incident, a wild video captured a hot air balloon packed with passengers making an emergency landing in a leafy California backyard — leaving the homeowner completely gobsmacked.

The footage posted online by homeowner Hunter Perrin showed the massive hot air balloon carrying 13 people lowering into his Temecula backyard on Saturday.

Perrin had no idea about his unexpected guests until a neighbor knocked on his door.

The surreal video captured a basket full of abnormally calm passengers smiling and waving at Perrin and his neighbors, and a giant, towering balloon cascading into the trees above the yard.
