A babysitter has been sentenced to four years in prison after horrifically abusing a young boy in her care. Siann Cawley, 27, was jailed earlier this month after a trial at Preston Crown Court. She was charged with assault (ABH), ill-treatment, neglect and abandonment, and pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing on September 2.
The boy suffered multiple injuries while Cawley, also a mother, was looking after him for three weeks. The victim was not one of her children. She was accused of putting cigarettes out on the boy, forcing him to eat pet food, and locking him in a room by himself for hours while she went out. Cawley is currently serving four years and three months in HMP Styal in Cheshire.
