A little girl’s family says a relaxing day at a Hawaii beach turned into “absolute hell” after a Rottweiler viciously mauled their child — hospitalizing her with deep puncture wounds and leaving her unable to walk.
Videos circulating online appeared to capture the chaotic aftermath of the attack Sunday on Oahu’s North Shore, with witnesses screaming as beachgoers rushed to help the injured girl.
Local community news account HHHNewz reported that two Rottweilers had reportedly been brought to the beach off leash before one of the dogs attacked the child.
“According to the person who reached out, one of the dogs allegedly mauled a little girl on the beach last night,” HHHNewz wrote in a post.
“They said the little girl was checked into the ER after the attack.”
Additional posts shared by HHHNewz included footage allegedly showing the aftermath of the incident, along with graphic photos of the girl’s injuries that were reportedly approved by the child’s parents for public awareness purposes.
A post from from @surfchannel.hawaii said: “I was told nothing appears to be broken, but she has multiple puncture wounds and bruising so severe that she currently cannot walk.”
Surfline camera footage from the beach posted by HHHNewz also allegedly captured the incident.
Social media posts identifying the suspected owner — including photos and video screenshots — quickly spread online as furious locals accused the man of repeatedly allowing the dogs to roam unleashed on North Shore beaches.
Surfchannel.hawaii’s post claimed the dogs and owner had been a longstanding issue on the North Shore. The Post has not been able to verify the photo of the supposed dog owner.
“This is NOT the first time this has happened with this dog owner,” one viral post alleged.
Comments flooding the posts also claimed there had been prior complaints involving the dogs, though those allegations have not been independently verified.
One commenter appearing to identify herself as the attacked girl’s mother described the ordeal in heartbreaking terms.
“These are my daughters in this video. I’m beyond heartbroken and mortified. It’s absolute hell,” the woman wrote.
“We took our daughter to the ER she has substantial injuries. 10 deep punctures. I’m working with police. The dog needs to be put down, the owner needs to be brought to justice.”
It was not immediately clear Monday whether charges had been filed or whether the dogs had been taken into custody by authorities.
The horrifying dog attack is the latest Hawaii beach incident to spark outrage online after a Seattle tourist was arrested earlier this month for allegedly hurling a rock at an endangered Hawaiian monk seal named Lani in a viral video.
The tourist was later beaten by a local man in a separate caught-on-camera confrontation days after the seal incident ignited fury across the islands and online.
