Homeless squatters set fire to LA house, destroying family home next door — and killing their dogs

Homeless squatters allegedly set fire to a house in Central Los Angeles, destroying the family home next door and killing their three sweet pups.

The owner of a multi-family property in the LA neighborhood of Larchmont, Alex Weiss, posted pictures on X about the total destruction left from a devastating fire allegedly set by homeless addicts squatting in a vacant home next to his building.

Weiss said the fire on March 8th not only caused serious damage to his building but also destroyed a family’s home on the other side of the vacant home — and killed three of the family’s dogs.

The family’s home was completely engulfed in flames.

Shocking pictures shared by Weiss show the charred family home next to a completely burned-out lot covered in scorched debris, where the vacant home used to stand.

The property management company owner said neighbors had warned that the vacant home was being broken into over and over again by drugged-out vagrants that the city did nothing about.

A fundraising page set up to help the family said the home was owned by a pastor who was at church preaching the word of God when his family lost everything, including their pooches.

In a heartbreaking picture shared on the GoFundMe, one of the dogs is seen hooked up to a breathing apparatus before he lost his life due to causes from the fire.

“While pastor Juan [Galicia] was preaching a sermon of hope on Sunday a devastating fire burned his house completely and 3 of the family dogs died,” the fundraiser read.

“The fire was caused by a homeless encampment on the vacant property next to his house,” it added.

“At this point Juan Galicia and his family have no place to stay and it will take time to recover, repair and rebuild his house.”

A second post shared by Weiss on X shows a close-up of the damage to the family’s home that looked like a hollowed-out shell.

Weiss called on LA mayoral candidate and reality star Spencer Pratt for help.

“Karen Bass and the council members need to go. Clean house!” he raged on X.

“For over a year, we called the City about the vacant lot and house next to one of our apartment buildings. Nothing was done. That property turned into a homeless hangout,” the post read.

Weiss bemoaned that the “city does nothing about the countless calls by neighbors about the homeless trespassers cooking meth in a vacant house.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department told The Post that there’s an open arson investigation underway into the cause, confirming there had been a “structure fire.”

Weiss said he’s since been in contact with the family, and he’s trying to help them out.

“We are in the process of trying to get them a place in our complex so they can be close to their home while they rebuild.”
