Home cooks have cracked a way to keep the kitchen cool and save money this summer, by snapping up a Crockpot for under £45 in an Amazon deal. Now £44.99 down from £68.99, the Crockpot Lift and Serve Digital Slow Cooker has been reduced as part of a limited time offer at the retailer.
Shoppers highlight that slow cookers arn’t just for cold autumn evenings and winter dishes, in fact one person pointed out that investing in a Crockpot will ‘save you money as it uses far less energy, and you don’t end up with a very hot kitchen – which is great when cooking in the summer.’
The 4.7 litre Crockpot has a digital timer, so the user can set a cooking time from 30 minutes to 2 hours. It also has an auto-warm option, meaning the dish is kept the correct temperature until ready to serve. This feature not only means a tasty meal can be cooking while away from the kitchen, the slow-cooking makes food tender and juicy. One customer said: “We’ve tried stews and casseroles which were delicious, however my favourite has been slow cooker lamb shanks – the meat just fell away from the bone and melted in the mouth.”
Another slow cooker that shoppers say is a ‘must-have appliance in the kitchen’ is the Ninja Foodi 8-Mode 6L PossibleCooker Rice & Slow Cooker. It’s more expensive than a Crockpot, currently on sale for £95.99 down from £119.99, but it has eight cooking modes and an extra litre of capacity.
The Crockpot is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning and it has a hinged lid making serving and stirring more practical, reducing worktop mess. One person applauded this, writing: “Great that I can put the inner pot in the dishwasher, saves so much time.”
A feature the Crockpot doesn’t have is a chalkboard side, something this Russell Hobbs 3.5L Slow Cooker possesses. Stocked at Dunelm for £35, users can write on the side of the Russell Hobbs slow cooker with timings and recipe names.
A happy Crockpot customer said: “Great appliance, easy to use, does the job perfectly lovely healthy meals just leave the cooker to do it for you once all ingredients dropped in.”
However, another person found it needed patience to use, commenting: “You have to learn how cook in different way in will be trial and error but I am getting there.”
But, someone else shared: “I use this a great deal, and even roast meat in it. It’s great for casseroles, making soups, and meat falls apart when it’s roasted in a slow cooker. I don’t put anything else in the slow cooker when I use it for meat but just leave it for several hours on low. The timer is easy to use, and the digital timer is very clear and shows how much time is left. The plus is, it’s so much cheaper than using an oven.”
