An ex-Palace staff member who was good friends with Princess Diana has claimed that Prince Harry wouldn’t have married Meghan Markle if his mother was alive. Talking on a recent podcast, Paul Burrell – who was a close confidante of Princess Diana – spoke about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan, 44.
Having worked with Princess Diana for a decade before her tragic 1997 death, Mr Burrell became very close to the princess and was seen as one of her most trusted friends. It is believed the ex-royal butler had a great insight into her life and thoughts, as well as having spent a lot of time with her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.
While he no longer is a part of the prince’s lives, Mr Burrell frequently talks about the royals, and has now revealed that Harry would probably not have wed Meghan Markle in 2018 if Diana was still alive.
Speaking on The Daily T podcast, Mr Burrell said: “If Diana had been alive, I doubt whether Harry would have married Meghan.”
The ex butler said that this is because Harry was “lost” and heartbroken after Diana’s death and had been searching for love ever since.
He said: “For the next years going through his life he was lost, he didn’t know where love was.
“When he heard a 36-year-old mature American woman whisper something into his ear along the lines of ‘you and I could be a great team’ or ‘we could change the world’. He didn’t hear Meghan’s voice, he heard his mother’s voice. Because Harry was always searching for love and he found it with Meghan.”
