The Harry Potter TV series, an adaptation of JK Rowling’s iconic fantasy novels, is currently shooting its first season, based on Philosopher’s Stone, in London.
Casting announcements have slowly but surely been released, with the likes of John Lithgow as Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
Paul Whitehouse, who briefly played Sir Cadogan in the third film, has also been cast as Filch.
The latest news is that Warwick Davis, who plays Professor Filius Flitwick in the movies, will reprise the same role in the TV show.
The 55-year-old played the Charms master in seven of the eight Harry Potter movies, but had a radical costume change from the third film onwards.
In the first two movies, Flitwick is old and grey-bearded, while in the third film onwards, he is younger, with brown hair and a moustache. The reason is that he wasn’t in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie, so Davis took a cameo as the choir master. Having preferred this costume, going forward, it was decided that the choir master was Flitwick after all, despite the physical continuity.
Given the original costume was book accurate, it’ll be interesting to see if he returns to the more ancient look. Meanwhile, Davis also voiced Griphook in the first movie and embodied him entirely in Deathly Hallows Part 1. But this time around the Gringotts goblin will be played by Joker and Joker 2’s Leigh Gill in the Harry Potter TV series, which debuts on NOW in 2027.
