Harry Kane’s return to the Premier League is by no means a certainty, and his wife Kate could play a significant role in keeping him at Bayern Munich. The race is on for clubs to capitalise on the remaining years of Kane’s career as the England captain, who turns 33 next summer, reportedly has a £56.7million release clause in his Bayern Munich contract that becomes active at the end of this season.
However, reports suggest Kane’s partner is eager for the family to prolong their stay in Bavaria. Since joining Bayern for approximately £100m in the summer of 2023, Harry has been a scoring sensation for Die Roten, netting 105 goals in 109 appearances. This includes an astonishing tally of 74 goals in 71 Bundesliga matches, and he played a key role in securing last season’s league title. Kane’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, but there are strong indications his exceptional performance levels will continue well beyond that date.
Kate’s readiness to extend the German chapter of her husband’s career marks a significant change in attitude. This comes after initial reservations when it first became clear they would be leaving Tottenham.
While Harry moved straight away following confirmation of his transfer in August 2023, Kate lagged somewhat behind in the proceedings. She chose to stay put in England at their Hertfordshire residence while Harry set the groundwork at their new digs in Munich.
The Mail On Sunday verified through insiders this was predominantly due to Kate expecting their fourth child at the time. Rather than complicate matters by relocating mid-pregnancy, she stayed in England to remain nearer to both her and Harry’s relatives.
However, if there existed any hesitation concerning the shift to German living, that seems to have evaporated on her part. Kate, who has long been a crucial part of Harry’s support network, has now completely embraced the fresh way of life, with her husband’s contentment reflected in his performances.
During both of the previous two editions of the festival, Kate has accompanied her husband in marking the customary Oktoberfest celebrations. It’s traditional for Bayern’s squad to participate in the festivities alongside their partners while sporting the conventional lederhosen and dirndl.
“Such an amazing time with @harrykane and the rest of the Bayern families at Oktoberfest,” Kate penned in an Instagram post marking Oktoberfest last year. “Since moving to Munich we’ve loved being part of the culture and traditions of the club and Bavaria, made us feel so at home.”
Having netted 20 goals in just 13 appearances this season, Kane appears to be relishing his time on the pitch as another potential turning point looms. However, it seems his wife Kate might need a bit more persuasion before considering a return to Blighty.
