Harrison Ford names what's 'nearly' his 'favourite film of all time'

When it comes to Hollywood icons, it’s fair to say Harrison Ford is up there with some of the best.

The actor, now 82, has starred in movies such as Indiana Jones, What Lies Beneath and Working Girl. He’s made his mark in cinema history over the years, and he always delivers when it comes to performance.

Recently, fans took to Reddit to talk about their favourite Harrison Ford films, and dozens of people got involved. It’s fair to say opinions are varied when it comes to his best flicks.

One person said: “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Another wrote: “The Fugitive. I can watch that over and over again. Also Witness… the only time he was nominated for an Oscar.”

A third also replied: “It might not be his best performance but everyone should see ‘The Conversation’. One of the best films of the 1970s.”

But, even though he has fans all over the world, when it comes to what he likes watching, Ford’s taste is quite different. He doesn’t even feature in some of his most-loved cinema, according to reports.

While he’s never gone on the record to confirm his favourite film of all time, he once came pretty close. He opened up about one movie that had a great impact on him during a previous interview.

“I think if I had to pick just one film to which I had a very strong reaction and can remember vividly how I felt, it would be To Kill a Mockingbird,” he told the American Film Institute. “I think it had all the elements of a great film. And it had such a strong moral register, I think. That’s why I would say it’s very nearly my favourite film.”

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

To Kill a Mockingbird is a 1962 American coming-of-age legal drama crime film that was directed by Robert Mulligan and stars the likes of Gregory Peck and Mary Badham. The story was inspired by Harper Lee’s 1960 Pulitzer Prize–winning novel of the same name.

The story follows the life of a lawyer (Peck) in Depression-era Alabama who defends a black man who gets charged with rape. He also attempts to educate his children about prejudice.

It gained a really positive reception from critics and viewers alike, and was a big box-office smash, earning over six times its budget. The movie also went on to bag three Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Peck and Best Adapted Screenplay.

At the time, it was nominated in eight categories, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress.
