Harold Wood murder: Elderly man dies at London train station in 'unprovoked' attack

A murder investigation was launched after an elderly man died at an east London train station following a horrific ‘unprovoked’ attack. Police rushed to Harold Wood station at 4.30am on Tuesday after a member of the public found the man seriously injured on the floor.

The station, served by the Elizabeth line and Great Eastern Main Line, was closed for the remainder of the day.

A 22-year-old man has now been charged with murder. Miles Skai, of Brent Cross in Hendon, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Blackburn said: “This act of unprovoked violence was despicable. The investigation remains in the early stages, and although though we are satisfied that this was an isolated incident the station will remain closed while we continue our enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or is able to help us piece together the events leading up to it is asked to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 53 of 27/02/24. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
