Hamas leader behind October 7 attack 'eliminated' in pinpoint Israel airstrike

A top Hamas chief said to be involved in the October 7 attack has been killed by Israeli forces.

The IDF announced the death on social media platform X. They wrote: “ELIMINATED: Omar Atiya Daruish Aladdiny—the Hamas terrorist responsible for rocket fire in central Gaza.

“He played a central role in the preparations for the October 7 massacre, and was also responsible for embedding Hamas’ rocket arsenal in Gaza and firing rockets at Israel since 2008.”

A video released later by the IDF and posted to the Israel War room X account shows footage of the drone strike reportedly responsible for killing Aladdiny.

The strike was the culmination of the IDF and Israel Securities Authority (ISA) working together over the past day to gather intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the chief.

Israel War Room’s post read: “Over the past day, following IDF and ISA intelligence, IDF troops eliminated Omar Atiya Daruish Aladdiny, the Hamas terrorist responsible for rocket fire in the area of the central camps in the Gaza Strip.

“Aladdiny was a Hamas operative for several decades, responsible for embedding its rocket arsenal in Gaza and firing rockets at Israel since Operation Cast Led (2008-9), up to and including the current war. Aladdiny played a central role in the preparations for the October 7th Massacre.

“During the war, he directed rocket launches toward Israeli civilian areas, including Tel Aviv and communities in southern Israel, and was responsible for heavy fire directed at IDF ground troops in Gaza.”

Just yesterday, Israel accused hundreds of United Nations workers of having ties to militant groups in the Gaza Strip. The claimed 450 employees of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) are active members of terror groups.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Israel’s chief military spokesperson, made the claims during a press briefing on Monday, but there is no evidence to substantiate these claims.

He said: “Over 450 UNRWA employees are military operatives in terror groups in Gaza — 450. This is no mere coincidence. This is systematic. There is no claiming, ‘we did not know’.”
