The Green Party’s new leader has been accused of being a “professional protester” as he is set to attend the rally against Donald Trump’s state visit. Zack Polanski is joining demonstrators taking to the streets in London today over the US President’s second state visit to Britain.
Ahead of the rally, the London Assembly member hit out at Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. He said: “Donald Trump comes to Britain seeking credibility and to whitewash his own complicity in the genocide unfolding in Gaza.
“While the vast majority unite against Trump and everything he stands for, there will be one man who wants us to welcome him with open arms: Nigel Farage.
“Farage pretends to be a man of the people, but he’s really just a man of the super rich. Like Trump he seeks power, influence and money over all else.
“Our country has a proud tradition of standing up for the underdog. Today, that means standing alongside every child in Gaza; with all those in detention camps on the borders of the United States and with each and every one of those growing up in poverty here in Britain. And standing up to the bully Donald Trump and his poodle, Nigel Farage.”
But Reform London Assembly member Alex Wilson hit back: “Polanski’s comments are the usual ranting we’ve come to expect from a professional protester who seems more interested in placards than power.
“While he shouts from the sidelines, Reform UK is offering real solutions to Britain’s problems, from cutting crime, controlling immigration, and lowering taxes, to putting our own people first.
“Nigel Farage doesn’t need lectures from a man who thrives on protest for protest’s sake.
“As Nigel has always said, Reform UK is here to do politics differently – not to virtue-signal, but to deliver change.
“Polanski is interested in protest, not power. We’re interested in results, not rhetoric.”
It comes as protesters are marching towards Whitehall as part of the rally.
