A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck close to Rhodes overnight, with tremors recorded across parts of southern Greece, western Turkey, and coastal regions of the Aegean Sea.
The significant quake was recorded at 12.30am.
A smaller, 5.8-magnitude quake hit earlier in the night at 11;17pm, recorded on the border between Greece and Turkey approximately 100 miles south east of Aydın, Turkey at a depth of 42 miles, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
Temors were reportedly felt widely across the region, prompting concerns from residents and tourists.
