Give your old Echo speaker to Amazon and get something way better for less

If your current Echo smart speaker is on its last legs then now is a very good time to think about switching to something new. Amazon’s Spring Sale has just kicked off and along with plenty of deals on Fire TV Sticks, Kindles and tablets, the online retailer has also slashed the price of its popular Echo speakers.

The whole range is now cheaper than before, with prices starting from just £22.99, but one deal that has caught our eye here at Express.co.uk is a drop to the new Spot.

This is currently our favourite Echo speaker but at £79.99 it’s not cheap. Luckily, the Spring Sale means you can currently take delivery of a Spot and pay just £54.99 – that’s a 31 percent saving.

If that wasn’t good enough, things get even better if you hand over your ageing speaker. Amazon’s trade-in programme offers a further 20 per cent off—and a free gift card.

“Get an Amazon.co.uk gift card and 20% off one new qualifying Echo device when you trade in,” Amazon explained.

You’ll find the trade-in offer on the Echo Spot product page.

So why do we like this speaker so much?

The Echo Spot features a neat design with a small screen which lets you see things such as time, what’s playing on the speaker, how long is left on timers and what the weather is like.

You can even link two of the speaker together for a stereo pair.

Of course, everything is powered by Alexa, so you can ask the Spot about pretty much anything and get a useful response. Via voice search it can also turn off your lights, open the curtains and tell you when someone has rung the Ring doorbell.

Want to know more? Read our full Echo Spot review here.

If you don’t want an Echo with a screen there are plenty more deals available in the sale.
