The Giants just signed an insurance policy.
It is unclear if star receiver Malik Nabers will be available for Sunday’s season opener, as he recovers from a season-ending knee injury last September.
The Giants are waiting to hear from him if he feels up to playing. In case he doesn’t, another receiver has been added to the 53-man roster.
Just a day before their Week 1 matchup against Dallas, the Giants signed Dalen Cambre from the practice squad, along with elevating Braxton Berrios for Sunday’s game, according to multiple reports.
It also comes just days after the team released wideout Darius Slayton before he was set to enter his eighth season with the Giants.
After spending four seasons at Louisiana, Cambre, 25, was picked up by the Giants last year after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cambre started last season on the Giants’ practice squad before being promoted to the active roster in December, appearing in seven games in 2025.
After impressing in training camp again this year, the Giants have now promoted Cambre to their 53-man roster, where Berrios will return to the practice squad following Week 1.
During training camp, Cambre said how he treats every practice as a tryout in front of head coach John Harbaugh.
“Harbaugh says you have to make the most of your opportunity, and I had to show him who I was even though I was getting limited reps as a rookie — because that’s real unless you are a top-three-round pick,” Cambre said in August.
“I learned as a rookie that every day in the NFL is a tryout. You take one off day and you know what happens,” he added.
